During the pandemic, the Cultivating Voices Poetry Open Mic served as a virtual live venue where poetry enthusiasts gathered to listen to writers from around the globe. These writers shared their works to foster social unity and strength through the literary arts. The event is hosted by Sandy Yannone, author of "Boats for Women" (Salmon Poetry, 2019), and the group was established on March 22, 2020.
Every month, the group hosts a variety of engaging poetry events. On the first Sunday, they hold the Poets Focus Open Mic, where participants can sign up 15 minutes before the program begins. The second Sunday features a New Books Showcase, highlighting 3-4 poets whose latest collections have been published within the past year. On the third Sunday, they present the Wild Card Open Mic, where 12 poets can sign up 15 minutes before the reading for a 5-minute slot, with a waiting list available if time permits. Interested poets can request to participate by emailing cvlivepoetry@gmail.com.
