From November 22nd to 24th, Ó Bhéal will host its 12th annual Winter Warmer Festival of Poetry at Nano Nagle Place in Cork, featuring nearly 40 poets performing both in person and online. This marks Ó Bhéal’s 4th hybrid festival, blending live events with virtual participation.
The festival, a three-day multilingual poetry celebration held in Cork City each November since 2013, includes poetry workshops, live music, and the highly anticipated shortlist screening and prize-giving for Ó Bhéal’s International Poetry-Film Competition, showcasing a selection of Irish-made poetry films.
Performers from five Cork-based open mic events will take the stage, alongside a closed-mic set for emerging poets who have featured in Ó Bhéal’s open-mic sessions throughout 2024.
The full festival programme will be released in late October, and all events will be free, with a suggested donation of €5. Ó Bhéal extends its gratitude to its sponsors, including The Arts Council, Cork City Council, Foras na Gaeilge, and numerous other supporters for making this event possible.
As always, the Winter Warmer Festival promises an exciting and enriching experience for poetry lovers, offering both in-person and online access to one of Cork’s premier literary events.
