Summer in the City: A Trilogy of Story Slams

By Dublin illustrator Dermot Flynn

This July, The Dublin Story Slam presents "Summer in the City," featuring three Story Slams across different venues over two weeks, all centered around the theme of Summer in the City.

The series begins at the Pavilion Theatre on July 11th, followed by a special one-off event at the Civic Theatre on July 16th celebrating its 25th anniversary, and concludes on July 23rd at The Sugar Club in Dublin. In each venue, participants are invited to share personal true stories inspired by the theme of Summer in the City.

“From early childhood adventures under the hot sun, to complete wash outs and being stuck indoors. Summer romances, flings and dates to forging friendships at Summer camps and crazy concerts. Seasonal jobs that you’ll never do again to a summer spent doing nothing and loving every second. Or perhaps your Summer was defined by that one city-wide event, that brought everyone together or threatened to split them apart.”

The Dublin Story Slam is Ireland’s only open mic competitive storytelling night offering a platform where individuals share extraordinary tales from their lives, fostering a unique connection among Dubliners through the art of storytelling. The event is produced by multi-award winning radio producer Julien Clancy and hosted monthly by columnist and broadcaster Colm O'Regan and comedian and writer Sharon Mannion.

Tickets for Summer in the City are available now. Those interested in sharing their story can email the first line to story@thedublinstoryslam.com and indicate their preferred Slam venue. The first four sign-ups for each event receive complimentary entry and priority placement. For inquiries, contact story@thedublinstoryslam.com.
