Claire Marie Barton, a multifaceted artist known for her work as a poet, singer/songwriter, and sound healer, will be the special guest at DeBarra's Spoken Word on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Claire, who hails from Cork City but now resides near a stunning beach in West Cork, channels her deep connection with nature into her creative endeavors. Her artistic journey, influenced by her background as an ecologist, seamlessly integrates poetry, music, and sound healing, reflecting her belief that "nature and creativity and sounding and singing" are intertwined.
During the event, Claire will share her poetry and songs, and provide a "taster" of her sound healing practice, which she studied in the UK. Claire's work is deeply personal and spiritual, shaped by her life experiences, including the profound loss of her first son, Alan. Her book, Letting Go, A Mother's Healing Journey, published in 2017, explores her path through grief and healing, accompanied by a CD of her songs and poems.
This event at DeBarra's Folk Club, Clonakilty, promises to be a unique blend of artistic expression and healing energy, offering attendees an opportunity to experience the therapeutic power of sound and the depth of Claire's creative soul. The evening will also feature an Open Mic session, providing a platform for other voices to share in the artistic exchange.
