On October 14th, Ó Bhéal, in association with Foras na Gaeilge, presents a hybrid poetry event featuring Ciara Ní É (via Zoom) and Máire Ní Bhriain (in person).
Ciara is a renowned bilingual writer, performer, and broadcaster, as well as the MC of REIC bilingual spoken word and co-founder of the LGBTQ+ arts collective Aerach Aiteach Gaelach. Máire, a writer from Wexford, works in both English and Irish, with her 2023 collection Púcaíocht/Shapeshifting including English translations. The event will take place in person at the Hayloft bar, upstairs in Long Valley, Cork, and online via Zoom (limited to 100 participants). Both in-person and virtual attendees can participate in the open-mic session and the Five Word Challenge.
The event will be live-streamed on obheal.ie/live and Ó Bhéal’s Vimeo, Facebook, and YouTube channels. Please note that hybrid events are recorded and remain viewable on these platforms. For Zoom access, email info@obheal.ie with a brief reason for participating, and a link will be sent to you on the evening of the event, which will run for 2-3 hours.
The evening will consist of four parts: Poetry Films (7-7:45pm, not streamed), the Five Word Challenge (8:30pm), Featured Guest Poets (9:30pm), and the Open-Mic Session (10:20pm).
