Lime Square Poets Featuring Kathy D’Arcy & Open Mic
Kathy D’Arcy is a Cork poet, academic, and feminist activist recently relocated to Iceland, but still very interested in how Irish poetry and the arts in Ireland are looking after their most vulnerable and under-represented. Her collections are Encounter (Lapwing 2010) and The Wild Pupil (Bradshaw 2012). She was Chair of the Cork Together for Yes campaign and created and edited the 2018 collection Autonomy which raised funds and awareness for that campaign. Kathy has just completed a Creative Writing PhD, for which she received an Irish Research Council Postgraduate Scholarship. She has worked as a doctor, a support worker with young families - including those enduring homelessness and Direct Provision - and a creative writing teacher. Kathy is part of the Fired!, #WakeUpIrishPoetry and Safe Arts of Ireland movements which seek to challenge gender and other inequalities in Irish poetry and the arts.
