Join Traveller singer Thomas McCarthy and storyteller Liz Weir for an evening of songs and stories on the theme of ‘treasures lost and stolen’.
Traveller singer Thomas McCarthy was born in County Offaly into a family with a long history of musicianship which includes the well-recognised and respected Doran Brothers and their grandfather “Big John Cash”, who all played the Irish uillean (elbow) pipes. Thomas learned his crafts of singing and storytelling from his mother, aunts and uncles.
Liz Weir is a professional storyteller who works with all age groups promoting the traditional art for which Ireland is world famous. A children’s librarian by training, she now travels the world telling stories to adults and children, organising workshops on storytelling, and speaking at courses for parents, teachers and librarians.
