The Upstairs Sessions is a monthly night that welcomes singers, musicians, wordsmiths, performers and listeners with regular performances and recitations. The night is inclusive and friendly, encouraging people to get involved. The event moves between upstairs in MVP, Clanbrassil Street and upstairs in Slattery’s, Rathmines on the last Friday of each month. The Upstairs Sessions started out as a way to bring like-minded musicians and poets together. Spokesperson for the event Elaine O’Dea has said that in setting up the event, she wanted to be around people who are creative and active in these areas. The emphasis has been on inclusivity and engagement from the beginning. The really lovely thing about the night is having people around a circle listening and being open and supportive.
