Anne Tannam’s Year of Poetry: New Launches, Tours, and Upcoming Events
It’s been an exciting and rewarding year for award-winning Irish poet Anne Tannam. With the release of her latest poetry collection, dismantle, published by Salmon Poetry in May 2024, Anne has been on a whirlwind journey, bringing her evocative and powerful work to audiences across Ireland and beyond.
The journey began with the official launch of dismantle at the Irish Writers Centre in Dublin on May 1st, a night that set the tone for what was to come. The collection then reached a broader audience with an online launch on May 15th, and later, a warm reception in Mayo at the Linenhall on July 13th. Each of these events highlighted Anne’s deep connection to her readers and her ability to bring the spoken word to life through her written work.
But the excitement didn’t stop there. Anne also took the stage at this year’s Electric Picnic as part of David Hyne’s The Word lineup. Her event, In Tandem with Anne Tannam, captivated festival-goers on Sunday, September 18th, adding another layer to her already impressive portfolio of performances.
Anne’s role as the current Poet in Residence with Poetry Ireland (2023-2025) has seen her on the move, touring the country as part of Poetry Ireland’s Poet on Tour program. Over the summer, she visited eight counties, connecting with writers’ groups, conducting poetry workshops, and sharing her love for the art form with communities across Ireland. The tour continues, with another eight counties on the horizon in the coming months.
As autumn approaches, Anne’s calendar remains full, with several upcoming performances that promise to be as engaging and inspiring as her recent endeavors. Here’s where you can catch her next:
The Poetry Lounge at the Waterford Gallery of Art, Waterford City, on Saturday, September 14th, from 2 pm to 4 pm.
Circling the Square Festival at the Source Arts Centre, Thurles, on Friday, October 18th, from 7:45 pm.
Waterford Writers Weekend in Dungarvan on Saturday, October 25th, at 2 pm.
Anne Tannam is not only a renowned poet with four poetry collections to her name but also a dynamic spoken word artist.
