Created by Beau Williams and Hazel Hogan, the 2 Meter Review is an anthology publishing poetry and photographyI, described as a ‘working-class grassroots publication motivated by the connection and the elevation of Irish and American voices.’

Submissions for poetry and photography will open on Monday, 28th September for the second edition of the 2 Meter Review. It will be published digitally with physical copies for sale.

Beau Williams is an American poet, workshop facilitator, and spoken word artist based in Dublin. Having built his career on the road, and performing in 46 states across America and in many countries across Europe he has teamed up with Dublin spoken word poet and writer Hazel Hogan whose poetry is part of  the Irish Poetry Reading Archive in the UCD digital library. Her poem 'Grangegorman' is also on the recommended list to be studied as part of the Junior Certificate English curriculum.

The 2 Meter Review was initially created as a way to support artists affected by the COVID 19 Lockdown which began in March 2020. Many of these artists lost out on paid opportunities with the closure of performance spaces and cancellation of shows.

‘During these difficult times, artists are taking a big hit to the wallet. It is our hope that this project could provide a small relief to that, and at the same time, produce an amazing piece of art. It is in the darkest of times where poetry and art are needed most.’

The first edition of the 2 Meter Review went on sale in June of this year. It was distributed for sale by the individual poets and photographers featured, thus ensuring that 100% of the proceeds went to the artists.

Submissions will open again for the second edition on Monday 28th September 2020. It will be edited by Dublin poets, Beau Williams and Hazel Hogan. Poems and photographs of any topic will be considered. While 2 Meter Review is a reference to the pandemic, neither poetry or photography need to have a pandemic theme. All submissions must be sent to 2meterreview@gmail.com.
